NASCAR NEXT: Herbst to make Xfinity Debut at Iowa This Weekend

Riley Herbst will be extra busy this weekend. Not only will he be running the ARCA race at Madison this weekend, he will also be making his Xfinity Series debut this weekend at the Iowa Speedway for Joe Gibbs Racing in the 18 car. Herbst was excited when he found out he was making his debut at Iowa. “I’m so blessed and excited to be making my Xfinity Series debut this weekend,” Herbst said.  “We have a really good shot at a win and hopefully we can go out and get it done,” Herbst continued.

The 18 car has won many times this season with wins from Kyle Busch and Ryan Preece as well as great results from Noah Gragson. Herbst looks to carry the flag for the 18 team this weekend. “I just have to go out there and learn as much as possible about the car.  If we are in a position for the win, you know we are definitely going to go for it,” Herbst commented.

On top of the Xfinity debut, Herbst will continue to compete in the ARCA Racing Series which is racing at Madison this weekend. Herbst has finished second in two out of his last three races and he and his 18 Nos Energy Toyota team are hungry for a win this season. “The last three weeks we have turned our season around and have been putting some good runs together.  We are hungry for a win this season,” Herbst exclaimed. “My guys have been working so hard putting these cars together and a win would bring a lot of confidence to me and my team this season going forward,” Herbst stated.

Not only is Herbst running double duty this weekend, he will also have the challenge of running from one track to another. Herbst says he is ready for the challenge of competing at two different tracks the same weekend. “It’s the first time I’m doing double duty in my racing career,” Herbst said.  “I’m ready for the challenge and it should be fun. I’m looking forward to it,” Herbst continued.

Next week, Herbst will be making his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Gateway for Kyle Busch Motorsports while also competing in the ARCA Series that weekend as well. “It’s kind of interesting that I’m making my Xfinity Debut before I make my Camping World Truck Series Debut,” Herbst announced.   “I’m just so blessed and grateful that I get to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch Motorsports these next few weeks in the Xfinity Series and Truck Series. Hopefully I can give them a good result or maybe even get them a win,” Herbst remarked.

Herbst will be competing in the ARCA Racing Series at Madison.  Coverage begins at 8 PM on MAVTV. The NASCAR Xfinity Series will be at Iowa this Sunday. Coverage begins at 5 PM on FS1.
