My name is Stefan Kogler, I am the publisher and editor-in-chief of Great Lakes Post. I have over 25 years experience in digital, social and innovative marketing. I have been the driving force behind many Fortune 50 company’s marketing campaigns and launch strategies. I was the chairperson of the advertising committee for Autism Speaks. I also am a professor at the College for Creative Studies in the Advertising Design program.
I want to share with you why I decided to launch this new online magazine: My oldest son was diagnosed with autism at 18 months. Through hard work and dedication, he has become an extremely talented student in high school and is fully prepared to graduate. My wife and I would often worry about what opportunities would be available for him after high school. Anyone who is familiar with autism knows the difficulty these uniquely gifted individuals have in socializing and communicating. This makes job interviews very difficult. However, they are very talented, writers, photographers, videographers, animators and graphic designers.
I wanted to give these uniquely talented individuals the opportunity to showcase their skills and get real-world experience and ultimately set them on a path to a fulfilling career and independence.
I never wanted to lose sleep over my son and his road to independence. Nor should you.
GreatLakesPost.com is a media outlet that offers individuals the opportunity to gain real-world experience as a citizen journalist, to showcase their unique talents, gain confidence in social situations and acquire a competitive advantage in the job market. All while producing high quality, insightful and engaging content for publication. These individuals are creative, dedicated, honest, loyal, and incredibly detailed. Their work will rival those currently in the job force.
But don’t just take it from me… Here are a couple of initiatives that have already proven successful. We launched a 1-year pilot program with WJR and Lt Governor Brian Calley. It ran on Tuesdays right after the Mitch Albom show. Here is a link to the program:
