HOCKEY: Michigan and Wisconsin Tie at 1

The Michigan Wolverines last night played to a 1-1 tie against the Wisconsin Badgers at the Yost Ice Center Red Berenson rink. Wisconsin got on the scoring going in the first period with Junior Adam Winborg beating Hayden Lavigne to power the Badgers. Michigan, however, controlled the game after the Wisconsin goal as the Wolverines outshot the Badgers 38 to 21 for the game total. Michigan ended up with the extra point as the Big ten this year went to a 3-3 format after the 5 minute overtime period to see who gets the extra one point in the game. Josh Norris scored with 33 seconds in the 3-3 format and was able to gather the all-important point for the Wolverines.

Michigan controlled the game in the second and third periods as indicated in the shots and face-offs were double for Michigan 42-20. Michigan will play tonight in the second of two against the Badgers at 7:30 at Yost. Other games in the Big Ten Penn State 4 Ohio State 3, Minnesota 7 Michigan State 2 (Notre Dame Off).
