Detroit Catholic Central Basketball Player Profile: Davis Lukomski

For the Catholic Central basketball team, it has been a year of change.  A new coach in Brandon Sinawi and a new direction, which has the Shamrocks very excited about this season. Senior Davis Lukomski, says this about the season, “It’s going really well.  We’re playing on both sides and that’s what’s propelling us to wins this season.”

Personally, Lukomski is performing nicely and is looking forward to the rest of the season. “I think I’ve been playing really well.” Lukomski says, “I’m letting the game come to me and I don’t think I’m forcing anything.  Definitely looking to continue to perform throughout the Catholic league.”

With a new coaching staff, Lukomski feels like this is a fresh start for him and says he his just having fun playing basketball for Detroit Catholic Central. “I think all new seasons are a fresh start.  I’m just having fun with my team and we are going to push to keep winning games.”

This is Lukomski’s senior season at CC and says that this season is a special season for him because it’s the last time he will play high school basketball.  “Its my senior season and I’m playing with guys who I call my brothers and a coaching staff that has been nothing but great,” Lukomski said.

Occasionally, with a new coaching staff it may take some time to get used to a new system, but Lukomski says the transition has been easy not just for him, but for the entire team.  “It’s been really easy. They came in and already had an understanding of all of our skill sets and developed a system that has been perfect for us as players,” Lukomski said.

He also gets to play with his best friends on CC and he wouldn’t have it any other way. “I love it. I know I can be honest with them and they can be honest with me.  We push each other and we are always competing,” Lukomski commented.

Lukomski says the best part about his game is his versatility, which makes him a valuable player for his Shamrock team.  “I think my versatility is the best part about my game. I can do a lot of things on the floor that are beneficial for our team.”

The Shamrocks are coming off a a big win over Orchard Lake St Marys.  Davis Lukomski is very optimistic about this season. “I think we are still constantly improving each day.  Hopefully, we will be at our best when playoff time rolls around.”
