The Michigan Men’s Hockey team will turn around after a weekend sweep of the Michigan State Spartans and travel to Notre Dame to take on the Fighting Irish. The Big Ten had gone to a Tuesday game format and these two rivals will be this Tuesday’s showcase. Michigan is coming into the game in second place in the Big Ten and can cement the position with a win over the Irish. Ohio State has all but locked up first place in the league but the remaining teams are bunched up with only a few games left to secure a position for the home playoff spot.
The Fighting Irish are coming off a bye weekend which sometimes can be good or bad and after Tuesday’s game, they will be playing three games in a five-day stretch. The last game for these two was a 4-2 victory for Michigan in the Outdoor game played January. If the Wolverines play the tight defense they showed this past weekend and the speed of the rush game this will help them against the veteran Notre Dame team. Michigan and Notre Dame split the first series with the Wolverines winning the first game 2-1 and the Irish defeating Michigan 6-2 both games in Ann Arbor.
Senior defenseman Bobby Nardella and Matt Hellickson lead the Irish and look for Dylan St.Cyr to play in goal as he has had success against Michigan. On the other side expect Hayden Lavigne to get the start for Michigan and the Wolverines lead the series 78-60-5 and Jeff Jackson and Mel Pearson have both coached against each other and have been behind the same bench coaching the USA teams. Game time will be 7 pm and NBC sports will have the stream of the game.
