Michigan Softball defeats Nebraska 12-0 in a Run Route

 

 

The Michigan Wolverines earn the season sweep over the Nebraska Cornhuskers 12-0 today at Alumni Field. The Wolverines go to 3-0 in Big Ten Play and 19-10 overall on the season.

 

Meghan Beaubien continued to impress for the Wolverines as she had 7 strikeouts on the day and only gave up 1 hit in the game. The Wolverines had 12 hits in today’s game and it was the eighth game this season where they had 10 or more hits in a game.

 

The scoring started in the bottom of the 2nd inning for the Wolverines as Natalie Peters hit a double to left field and advanced to third on a throwing error which scored two runs to make it a 3-0 game early in the 2nd inning. Another Run was added in the second inning when Freshman Lexi Blair hit a double to right field which brought in Natalie Peters to make it a 4-0 Game.

 

Things got crazy in the bottom of the 3rd inning as the Wolverines hit back to back to back home runs in the 3rd inning as Mackenzie Nemitz, Madison Uden, and Haley Hoogenraad hit home runs out of Alumni Field to make the lead 7-0 in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

 

In the 4th inning, the scoring continued for the Wolverines as Mackenzie Nemitz continued singled through the right side to make it a 8-0 Michigan lead. Michigan was able to tack on 4 more runs to make it a 12-0 game and that would be your final from Ann Arbor.

 

Michigan outscored the Cornhuskers 27-2 in the weekend series and held them to just 8 hits. The Cornhuskers have now lost 10 in a row and are 0-3 in Big Ten Play.

 

Michigan next travels to Central Michigan to take on the Chips on Tuesday
