The Michigan Basketball team suffered their second defeat of the season with a 74-59 blowout to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa’s high powered offense met the Michigan defense and put the Wolverines into first half foul trouble. Iowa freshman Joe Wieskamp and Luka Garza caused the Wolverines issues with 19 points for Garza and Wieskamp grabbing 16 points with 5 steals and 7 rebounds for the Hawkeyes.
Michigan led 17-12 with Ignas Brazdeikis leading the early scoring however fouls by Jon Teske and Isaiah Livers put the Wolverines into an issue with a bench problem and Iowa never stopped scoring. Iowa produced a 21-1 run on the Wolverines and with Michigan in foul trouble the inexperienced bench got to go to work and gave Iowa the advantage.
The Wolverines in the second half came close with the score 54-49 however Iowa took the game over and with the bench called on to produce the game got out of hand for Michigan. The Wolverines will visit Rutgers Tuesday looking to get back on track.
