BASKETBALL: Michigan Defeats Rutgers 77-65

The Michigan Men’s Basketball team on Tuesday went to Piscataway New Jersey on a business trip and came home with their 21st victory and 10th Big Ten win against 2 losses. With the Iowa game put behind them the Wolverines wanted to put together a solid game one that they come out strong with defense, shooting, and turnovers down, Check, check and check. Michigan started the game with a 25-10 lead and never looked back and was never behind against Rutgers. Playing is a small venue the Scarlett Knight crowd appreciated the Rutgers effort as they kept themselves in the game however could not get within 5 points of Michigan.

Freshman Ignas Brazedeikis playing against Canadian high school teammate Rutgers forward Eugene Omoruyi for bragging rights and for Michigan wins as  Iggy led all scorers with 23 points and 5-8 three-point night. Michigan was able to go 7-8 from the arc and with the defensive work of guard Zavier Simpson kept Rutgers star guard Geo Baker in check with a 1-9 shooting night. With the outside shooting for Rutgers being nil the inside game kept the Scarlett Knights in the game however they had to work harder than Michigan to get the points.

Michigan was able to keep out of foul trouble the whole game, turnovers only 7 for the game, and the shooting was back for the Wolverines and this leads another victory for the now first place Wolverines. Michigan can move to get a better grip of first this Saturday when the Wisconsin Badgers come into Crisler to play the Wolverines at Noon on FOX.
