PGA CHAMPIONS TOUR: Jiminez and Langer sit atop the Leaderboard at Hualalai


The 2020 PGA Champions Tour season kicks off this weekend at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai this weekend. Scott McCarron looks to defend his 2019 Charles Schwab Cup title. 

After round one, it’s Miguel Angel Jimenez and Bernhard Langer on top of the leaderboard after round one at an eight-under 64 day. Jimenez’s round included eight birdies on the day including four on the back nine. He birdied 3 straight holes at 13,14 and 15 and finished his day off with a birdie at 18. 

Bernhard Langer’s day was good as well even though he hit a bogey at the third hole, he managed to come away with shooting a 64 for the first round of the tournament he managed to birdie the last hole to remain tied with Jimenez at the end of the first round. 

Woody Austin is a shot off at seven-under 65 on the day while Kenny Perry and Joe Durant both are two shots back at 6 under on the day. 

Ernie Els who is making his PGA Champions Tour this weekend started his rookie season by shooting even par on the day. He is tied for 30th with Hale Irwin, Jeff Sluman, Rocco Mediate, and Kirk Triplett. Defending Charles Schwab Cup Champion Scott McCarron is tied for 6th at five-under-par and Last year’s winner Tom Lehman is tied for 25th at one under. 

Second Round Coverage begins at 7:00 PM Eastern on Golf Channel.
