Brett Quigley came into the PGA Tour Champions event with no wins and a part-time status on the Champions Tour. Now he is a PGA Tour Champions winner for the first time and earns an exemption until the end of the 2021 season.
The victory comes in Quigley’s second start on the Champions Tour as he shot a -6 under 66 on the day after coming in three shots back heading into the final round. It’s the second come from behind win this season as Miguel Angel Jiminez came back and won the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai a few weeks ago. Quigley jumps to second in the Charles Schwab Cup Standings.
Stephen Ames led for most of the tournament but struggled in his final round as he shot a -2 under 70 on the day. After Ames shot bogeys on the 14th and 15th holes, he then shot 2 birdies on the 16th and 17th holes but had a par on the 18th to finish one shot behind Quigley to finish one shot off the lead. Ames moves to 4th in the Charles Schwab Cup Standings after two events.
The Champions Tour will return to action at the Chubb Classic on February 14th through the 16th at the Classics at Lely Resort in Naples, Florida. The coverage will be on the Golf Channel.
