SOFTBALL: Michigan defeats Ohio State 10-3 in Game 1

The Michigan Wolverines wanted revenge on the Ohio State Buckeyes after the Buckeyes Run Routed the Wolverines 10-1 in the final game of the regular season last season. They did get their revenge as the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes 10-3 in Game 1 of a three-game series.

The Scoring started in the bottom 3rd inning when Ohio State’s Emily Clark hit a single to centerfield to give the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead. Michigan would answer back as Madison Uden grounded out to score a run to tie the score. Haley Hoogenraad would triple down the right field line to score another run to make it 2-1 Wolverines. Katie Alexander then hit a two-run home run to make it 4-1 Wolverines.

Ohio State would get a home run in the bottom of the 4th when Claire Nicholson hit a two-run bomb to left center to make it a 4-3 game. Michigan would get one more run in the top of the 5th inning when Alex Sobczak flew to center scoring Faith Canfield to make it a 5-3 Michigan lead. In the top of the 6th inning, Katie Alexander then hit a home run to left center which made it a 6-3 Michigan lead in the top of the 6th. Haley Hoogenraad then hit a Grand Slam to cap things off for the Wolverines as Michigan Defeats Ohio State 10-3 as they took game 1 of a three-game series. It was their 16th win a role and Michigan head coach Carol Hutchins picks up her 1599th win as a head coach.

Michigan’s Meghan Beaubien picks up the win for the Wolverines she is 17-3 on the year. Lauren Rice picks up the loss for the Buckeyes she falls to 14-3 on the season.

The two teams will wrap up the series today in a doubleheader from Columbus. First Pitch is at 2 PM.
