SOFTBALL: James Madison defeats DePaul 5-2

 

The James Madison Dukes defeat the DePaul Blue Demons 5-2 in Game 1 of the Ann Arbor Region in the NCAA Softball Tournament.

 

The first few innings were scoreless until the 4th inning when DePaul’s Morgan Greenwood reached on a fielders choice to give DePaul an early 1-0 lead. JMU then got a home run off of Sara Jubas to tie the score at 1 in the 4th inning.

 

The Dukes exploded in the 5th inning when Kate Gordon hit a 2 run home run to right field as JMU took a 3-1 lead. Gordon hit her 19th home run of the season which is the most home runs for any James Madison Player in school history. Kierstin Roadcap then hit a 2 Run Home Run of her own as James Madison took a 5-1 lead.

 

DePaul got a home run from Morgan Greenwood to make it 5-2 but it would not be enough as James Madison defeated DePaul 5-2 to advance to the Winners bracket to play Michigan at 12 Noon on Saturday.

 

Odicci Alexander got the win for the Dukes. She improves to 23-1 on the season. DePaul’s Krista Dalgren takes the loss for the Blue Demons. She goes to 13-8 on the year.
