Michigan Comes Back Against Northwestern 58-47


 

 

If you thought Michigan would win the game after the first ten minutes, you would have been crazy. As Michigan was able to come back with a win against a very good Northwestern team 58-47. “We did not make shots, we did not make foul shots, but we held them off,” Beilein said. “That was the key for the win,” Beilein continued.

 

Want to know how good Michigan’s defense was tonight? They had a season low of 5 turnovers while they forced Northwestern into 16 turnovers in the game. They are also ranked 6th in the nation with turnovers per game with (9.9). Michigan scored 16 points off of turnovers while the Wildcats scored only 2.

 

One person that was going to be hard to guard for Northwestern was Bryant McIntosh, who was a key piece in Northwestern’s run to their first NCAA tournament bid last season. Xavier Simpson, Eli Brooks and Muhammad Ali Abdur- Rahkman were in charge of guarding McIntosh. “It’s nice when you can guard someone like McIntosh who just has incredible abilities. We have seen him have great games against us. We really did a great job of guarding him,” Beilein said.

 

Charles Matthews led the game with 14 points, 7 rebounds and was 2 for 3 from the free throw line. He played 26 minutes in today’s game. Muhammad Ali Abdur- Rahkman had 11 points, 4 rebounds and was 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Moe Wagner finished the night with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Jordan Poole had 8 points and 2 rebounds along with 3 assists.

 

Michigan continues its 2 game home stand when they welcome Minnesota on Saturday. The game is at 2:30 on FOX.
