Michigan Blasts Michigan State 74-48

It was a game that everyone expected to be a close game. But, sometimes what everyone expects doesn’t usually happen. As Michigan beats Michigan State  74-48 for the first time since February 5th 2015. It was also the most lopsided victory that Michigan has had over MSU in the history between the two teams. “I know Michigan State had some injuries they had to deal with,” said Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico. “Anytime you can get a win against your in state rival it’s pretty cool. I am proud of our players and how they played tonight,” Arico continued.

Once Again it was Katelynn Flaherty putting on a performance as only she can. She had 26 points on the night as well as 3 rebounds and 6 assists. She also was 4 for 6 from 3 point range and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line. “Katelynn was very efficient tonight,” Arico said. “She is just getting more comfortable running the point and did an incredible job of finding her teammates,” Arico continued.

Nicole Munger was also very impressive for Michigan as she had 13 points and 3 rebounds and was also 5 for 9 from field goal range. Jillian Dunston continued her success by having 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the Wolverines.  Hallie Thome led Michigan in rebounds with 11 against the Spartans. Freshman Hailey Brown continues to impress for the Wolverines by having 10 points and 3 rebounds.

Despite the loss, the Spartans also had some good performances as well.  Sidney Cooks had 17 points and was 7 for 14 from field goal range. She also had 5 rebounds on the night for Michigan State. Branndais Agee had 12 points and was also 2 for 2 from the free throw line.

The Michigan Wolverines next game will be in Evanston when they take on Northwestern on Sunday.
