It was a good night to be a Michigan Wolverine as the Wolverines Defeated the Crieghton Blue Jays 79-69 in the annual Gavitt Tip-Off Games. Michigan came in ranked 30th in the country and Crieghton came in ranked 31st. This would be Michigan Basketball’s first test of the season and the first test for new head coach Juwan Howard.

In the First Half, it was a battle throughout the game as the Blue Jays and Wolverines traded the lead several times in the first half. Michigan then got the advantage later in the half up 31-23. But it was short-lived as Crieghton went on an 11-2 run to take a 3 point lead heading into the locker room.

The Second Half started off with an 8-2 run by the Wolverines as they were still down by 1 with about 4 minutes into the game. Then, Isaiah Livers and Eli Brooks gave Michigan the lead halfway through the second half which woke up Crisler Arena.

Late in the game, the Wolverines led by 5 and with Creighton coming strong, Michigan’s Jon Teske made two late baskets to put the Wolverines ahead for good as the Wolverines won 79-69 over the Blue Jays to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Isaiah Livers scored a career-high 22 points on the night for the Wolverines. Jon Teske and Zavier Simpson had 17 points. Eli Brooks had 7 points on the night.
