Michigan Women’s Lacrosse: Michigan Defeats Denver 12-10

The Michigan Women’s Lacrosse team continues their undefeated streak as they beat Denver University 12-10 today in Denver. The team is currently 6-0 on the year.

It was another good day for Michigan’s goalkeeper Mira Shane as she had four saves and allowed ten goals against for the Wolverines. Shane earned “Defensive Player of the Week” for the second week in a row.

It was a back and forth affair in the first half with Denver leading 6-4 at halftime. Denver was up 9-6 with fifteen minutes to go in the game when Maggie Kane scored her eighth goal of the season to make it 9-7. Katelyn Mead scored the next goal, her third of the season to make it a 9-8. Denver scored on a man advantage to make it a 10-8 with under eight minutes to go. The Wolverines rallied to score four unanswered goals to win the game 12-10.

Nadine Stewart and Adriana Pendino both had three goals for the Wolverines in today’s game. Chandler Kirby had two goals and nine shots in the game.

The Wolverines were in a back and forth battle in the game with Denver, but they ended up pulling out the victory. Head Coach Hannah Nielsen was pleased with the effort. “I am extremely proud of the girls for their efforts today. Being a couple of goals down for most of the game, we could have put our heads down but we never gave up. They played hard and they played together for the full 60 minutes. From top to bottom, this was a full team effort today and we are happy to leave Colorado with two big wins,” Nielsen said.

The Wolverines return home to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday, March 3rd at the University of Michigan Lacrosse Stadium.
