MHSAA Boys Basketball Preview: South Lyon East

Earlier this week, Great Lakes Post Spoke with South Lyon East Boys Basketball Coach Ron Levin to preview the upcoming season

How ready are you to start this season?
Our coaching staff and players are very excited for this season to start. There is a lot of optimism for the season from all involved.

Who are some of your top returners this year?
We have 9 Varsity returners from last season. Nick Branton 6’8 Senior. (Nick missed the entire 2018-19 season with a shoulder injury. He was an all-league players as a Soph. Bryce Bird 5’11 Junior. (Bryce started every game for us last year at the point guard spot as a Soph. He broke the school record for assists in a season. Bryce has worked as hard as any player I have ever coached this offseason. I am expected a huge year from him. Christian Dimitriou 6’1 Junior. (Christian was up on varsity last season as a Soph. He had some big games including a 19 point outburst Vs. Hartland. Zander Desentz 5″11 Junior. ( Zander played big minutes last season as a Soph. Zander is highly skilled and can score in bunches. Drake Willenborg 6″5 Junior (Drake started every game last season a Soph. He shot 40% from the 3 point line and led us in rebounding. He had a huge 23 point game Vs. Churchill last season.Adam Trent 6″0 Junior (Adam was an all-league selection last season as a Soph. He is the glue that will hold our team together this season.

How do you think The Lakes Valley Conference will fair in Boys Basketball?
Lakes Valley will be tough from top to bottom this season. There are some very good teams and very good players in our league this season. Waterford Mott, Lakeland and Walled Lake Northern have the talent to win the league this season.

What is your outlook on this season? If players continue to play for one another and live our culture of WE>me then we should have a very successful season. At East, we have championship goals this season. We are looking to win the Lakes Valley and also win our district and compete in a regional.
