Livonia Franklin’s Kelbert Ready for Senior Season

Jacob Kelbert has known one thing for his entire life, Livonia Franklin Football. It’s time for Kelbert to get ready for his final season of football and is very excited to start the season. “I am very excited to start the year. We have all the tools necessary to make this a special season. We are all starting to buy in, and we are all eager to get started,” Kelbert said.

Kelbert has grown a lot over this offseason and has prepared himself for this senior season for the Patriots. “I think I have grown in both the physical and mental aspects of the game. I’ve worked on a quicker release and quicker footwork. I also worked on my speed and agility. I dropped my 40 from a 4.9 to a 4.72 laser time at the Nike Opening. To add on, I’ve become smarter as a QB and know every defense inside and out,” Kelbert stated.

Livonia Franklin will play Howell the first week of the season on Thursday. The two teams matched up the last season at Franklin and Kelbert says it should be a fun game. “I am very excited. It’s going to be a good game, we ended their season last year, and they’re coming back to avenge that loss. It’s going to be a matter of which team is better prepared and makes the least amount of mistakes that will win this ball game,” Kelbert commented.

To mentally prepare for a game, Kelbert always has the same gameday routine as it helps him get ready for the opponent later that night. “Before every game, I go and get a club sub from Jersey Mike’s with a fruit punch Gatorade and then listen to music while laying in the trainer’s room and doing shoulder and elbow exercises to get my arm activated. After that, I go on the field and play a little long toss. After that, I watch Sam Ehlinger’s highlights,” Kelbert said.

Manging football, school and being an everyday teenager can be tough on a lot of high schoolers, but Kelbert does an excellent job managing everything. “It’s easy, you lock in to give everything you’re all in both school and football, and then you just go with the flow outside of those two,” Kelbert mentioned.

The biggest thing that football has taught Kelbert is to never quit in no matter what situation he is in as a football player. “I always have a never quit mentality and to cherish every moment in life because eventually, it’ll become a memory,” Kelbert added.
