HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Northville defeats Novi 11-3 to open season

 

 

The Northville Mustangs had a lot of new faces this year, but they picked off right where they left off last season defeating rival Novi 11-3 in Novi on Tuesday.

 

The Northville Mustangs scored 11 runs off of 10 hits and no errors while the Novi had 3 runs, 4 hits and 3 errors. Northville scored 3 in the 1st, 4 in the 3rd and 4 in the 6th.  Evan Redwine has 2 hits and 3 rbi; Nick Sinawi and Jake Willerer each had 2 hits and an RBI.  Mustang pitcher Nick Reath got the win pitching 3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Spencer Ziparo.  Reath did not allow a hit while walking 2 and striking out 6. Adam Harp pitched a scoreless 6th inning and Oliver Wu allowed a single run in the 7th.

 

Novi’s  Drew O’Connor had 3 of the team’s 4 hits.  Starting pitcher Alex Choma took the loss as he yielded 7 runs (3 unearned), 5 hits and walked 5 in 3 innings.

 

The Two teams will face off today in Northville at 4:30 PM.
