Dexter Football Player Profile: Colin Parachek

The Dexter Football Team is trying to do something it hasn’t done in school history. Make the playoffs back to back years. Leading the Dreadnaughts this season is Junior Quarterback Colin Parachek, who says the season is going well. “This season, although shocking to many, is what was expected from our team this year. On the offensive end, we have so many weapons in the passing game with Antwan Ficklin, Brennan Parachek, and Rhett Jacobs. If teams try to play the pass, we run it down their throat with Evan Krolewski. He has had an unbelievable season so far. Defensively we have been locked in having three shutouts and holding teams to very few points. We cant wait to keep the momentum going and keep making a statement. Surprising everyone, yet showing that Dexter Football is legit,” Parachek said.

After going to the playoffs for the first time in school history, Parachek is trying to do so once again. We continue to prove people wrong that had doubts about how this season would go for the Dreadnaughts. “We think that every game we play is a statement game. When we play teams we should beat, we beat them handily. When we play the top teams in our conference, we show that we are a serious threat to everyone. We are not trying to prove people wrong because we don’t care what others think. We go into each game with a 1-0 mentality and know that if we can execute and play and come out 1-0 on every play, we will be successful,” Parachek commented.

Parachek has stepped up his game tremulously since last season and has become an overall better quarterback because of it. “I’ve gotten better at my ability to recognize coverages and read defenses. It has allowed everything to slow down for me, and I can play the game at a much more efficient pace along with the mental side of the game. My throwing mechanics have improved as well as my arm strength and pocket presence. Being able to recognize when to step up and when to evade has helped a lot,” Parachek added.

Dexter will take on Pinckney this weekend at Pinckney. The Pirates are 5-1 this season, and Parachek says that Pinckney is always a tough team. “It will be a battle between the two teams,” remarked Parachek. “Pinckney is always a tough team that will give you their all every play. They’re aggressive and talented on both sides of the ball. I’m expecting a tough, hard-fought game and hoping we can execute our game plan to come out with a victory,” Parachek said.

Dexter will travel to Pinckney to take on the Pirates at 7 PM on Friday.
