Lion’s Fan Gets Surprise Of a Lifetime

Lion’s fan and 2019 Howell High School graduate, Kam Register, recently took a chance when he invited Lions All-Pro cornerback Darius Slay to his graduation party this weekend over direct messaging on Twitter.  Never in a million years did he think Slay would come.

When Register sent the message, Slay responded saying “Might pop up, you never know.”  It isn’t the first time Slay was invited to an event. He attended the Brighton-Howell boys basketball game earlier this year.

Register was shocked again when Darius Slay came to his graduation party this weekend. “When I saw him walk up, I ran as fast as I’ve run in all my life.  I was literally taking pictures, but I was shaking so bad. It was the craziest thing that has ever happened in my life,” Register said.

Slay didn’t just stop by, he stayed for 3 hours and played basketball and offered to take pictures and sign autographs with all the guests at the party.  Slay also gave Register a pair of gloves that were worn at the Pro Bowl signed by Slay. He also invited Register and his family to an upcoming Lions home game this season, with Slay picking up the tab for the tickets.

Since Saturday, Register has been contacted by Local TV stations and radio stations in Michigan as well as national outlets, including ESPN and NFL Network.

Register is a life long Lions fan and says he will talk about this experience for the rest of his life. “I’ll remember this until the day I die, I’ll never stop talking about it and I’ll never forget this day.  This has been the craziest day of my life,” Register exclaimed.
