ARCA: Eckes is primed and ready for Iowa

You have heard the name Christian Eckes the last few weeks as he has made his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series along with making some starts in the ARCA series for Venturini Motorsports. Eckes is coming off a top 5 finish at Gateway and led some laps in the early stages of the race but ended up finishing 4th. “It was disappointing,” Eckes said.  “We had a pretty decent car and it was a fun race to compete in. It was fun to go race with these guys but it was not the result I wanted,” Eckes commented.

Eckes recently made his truck series debut at Iowa and then made his second start at Gateway for Kyle Busch Motorsports.  Even though he did not get the result he wanted, it was still a hard fought effort by his guys. “Honestly, it went really well,” Eckes remarked.  “I really did not know how good we were going to do in the race. It was my second truck race and I’m still learning how to drive and adjust to the trucks. Luckily, everything went pretty well and we were able to pick up a stage win. Even though we didn’t get the result that we wanted, I was still happy with the progress that we made,” Eckes continued.

Even though he hasn’t achieved the results that he wanted in the two truck starts, Eckes has still learned a lot from driving in the truck series.  “I learned a lot during my last two weekends driving in the truck series,” Eckes said. “It was definitely not what I was used to driving being in the big tracks in my Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra. It is always fun when you have great partners and great manufactures helping you out,” Eckes commented.

Overall, Eckes has had a good season so far with making the two truck starts for Kyle Busch Motorsports and running a partial schedule with Venturini Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series. Eckes does have an ARCA win this season at Salem. “My season is going good but not as good as should be,” Eckes stated.  “We have been screwed out of a couple wins whether it was last minute execution that we missed or it’s been bad luck situations that have prevented us from wins. We have had fast cars everytime we go to the race track. We just had some unfortunate incidents that have prevented us from the win,” Eckes continued.

Christian Eckes will have a shot at a win in the ARCA Racing Series this weekend at Iowa. Iowa Speedway will always be a special place for Eckes as it is where he made his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series a few weeks ago. “It’s definitely a track where I have an emotional attachment since I made my first truck and ARCA start at Iowa,” Eckes stated.  “This will be my third time to Iowa, and I think we have a pretty solid shot at the win,” Eckes continued.

Eckes will be in the 15 JBL Audio Toyota for Venturini Motorsports this weekend as the ARCA Racing Series competes in the Fans with Benefits 150 from Iowa Speedway on Saturday. Coverage Begins at 8 PM CT on MAVTV.
